EDUCATION 411
Education 411 (“E411”) is a nonpartisan organization established in 2006 to inform Westwood residents of key issues facing our public schools.
Since its formation, E411 members have attended numerous town meetings, circulated several newsletters, built an email database reaching several hundred residents and organized well-received Community Forums on the topics of state funding of public education and the specifics of Chapter 70 (in 2006) and safety issues in the schools (in 2007). SCHOOL COMMITTEE CANDIDATES FORUM
Education411 recently wrote to each of the four candidates for the upcoming April 27th School Committee election. We invited each candidate to provide us a statement on school issues of up to 1000 words taking into account at least the following points:
A. What do you perceive as the strengths of the Westwood schools?
B. What do you perceive as the greatest challenges the schools face in the near term?
C. What skills and perspectives would you bring to the Committee? Why would the Committee and town benefit from those skills to meet the challenges you identified?
D. Where can residents learn more about your candidacy? Please provide any contact information you wish to share.
We are glad to report that each candidate submitted a statement before our requested deadline. Click on the candidate's name to read their unedited statements. We hope that these statements help you learn more about the candidates.
There are two seats up for election.
